Speaking of Haydn, I tuned into the local Classical Music station to the last two movements of Haydn's 1st Violin Concerto. I found the slow movement to be very interesting.

Just listening to Mozart's Misericordias Domini, K. 222. It was written when Mozart about nineteen, yet you can distinctly hear the germ of Beethoven's Ode to Joy theme about 50 seconds in.
It's highly unlikely that Beethoven ever heard this work as it was obscure enough even in Mozart's time. It still gave me a bit of a shock when I heard it.
It's easy to find on YouTube.

This morning I listened to Haydn's Symphonies A and B. I was not aware these existed but were a part of the complete collection.

Only one choice of listening today, the 200th anniversary of the premiere of The Ninth.
I picked Ansermet and the Suisse Romande.

She seems to be sitting very low at the piano. Kind of like Glenn Gould. I also like to sit low at the piano, and I've had more experienced players tell me that's not good. But I guess it works for some excellent pianists!

Yes, I was taught to sit fairly low but not like Gould. My elbows are fairly level with the keyboard.

One of the "Sleepy" ones, here posting..... Caught the last part of Kodaly's symphony this morning on the radio. I had no idea he had composed a symphony. It was interesting to listen to, especially not knowing who the composer was.

From one "sleepy one" to another (just to show that I'm still here), I've already posted this (I think) but once again, dig the passion, the dynamism, the sheer fun of it all:

Vivaldi, Juditha triumphans, RV 644: Air Armatae face et anguibus. What a great ensemble!

I have the CD set Juditha Triumphans.

This is my favourite beautiful aria from it... Sung by Magdalena Kozena.

: (Juditha) Veni, veni, me sequere fida

Loading the video doesn't always work for me.
