Novel on LvB: any good?

New York Review Books has put out a novel about the Master wherein he tavels to America to compose an oratorio and learns sign language for deaf people and possibly falls in love:

I've read mixed reviews. Wondered if anyone here has read it? What did you think?

Never heard of it but immediate thought is it doesn't interest me, just another attempt to make money by latching on to a great name.

I'm not a great fan of Paul Griffiths, the music critic and writer so I don't think I'll be rushing out to buy this book.
