And I noticed the Goldener Saal (Musikverein) was half empty for the Beethoven. Presume the orchestra is from the Vienna University for Music and the Performing Arts.

From 1:28:00 in the Final of the Beethoven Competition (link above) you'll find the winner Aris Alexander Blettenberg playing Piano Concerto #1. This musician has personality and confidence in spades and notice the way he interacts with the orchestra! I've seldom seen that before, especially in a music competition:
