In Katowice, in the last days, a concert has been held where the winner Liu has performed alongside a 17year old pianist who didn't find a place with the finalists. Apparently Liu had to perform, for the 5th time, the Chopin Concerto - this time with a sub-par orchestra!! What were they thinking??? Next competition to be held at the Coliseum?Comment

What in the world are piano teachers doing if they can't instill comportment into their students? When I learned I was taught to keep my 'pinkie' finger down and not to let it rise up (as in "The Birdcage") which I had a tendency to do when practicing scales. Surely, then, histrionics and ugly grimacing should also be subject to a disciplinary approach.Comment
