No but I'll check him out! Coincidentally I've recently been looking at unknown composers and it was the amazing Joseph Boulogne Chevalier de Saint Georges (otherwise known as 'le noir Mozart') who sparked my interest.

Here is a site about him http://208.11.77.182/database/s/Saint-Georges.html

This one is a more general site about unknown composers - I'm particularly interested in Louise Ferranc and am trying to get hold of her nonet! http://cpa.feynsinn.de/eng/

Two very interesting sites indeed. Learned a lot about these unknown or forgotten composers. I've been reading from the unknown composer site for the past few days (lots to read) and it sparked an interest in me to want to hear some of their compositions as well.

Great sites Peter ,thanks.CBC TV had a documentary of Georges Boulogne Chevalier de St.Gorges last spring he was a virtuoso violinist and a spectacular swordsman .Very popular with the ladies as well. His compositions were wonderful.I think there is a CBC recording of this music I'll go look it up and let you know.

You mention Louise Ferranc, are you looking for the score or a recording of the nonet?

Never heard of him, but something close to this nickname you gave him could be (who I think was ) the Brazilian Haydn.
If you want to take a look, here is a nice page about him: http://www.geocities.com/Vienna/Stage/5312/
