    A New CD of Beethoven's 32 Sonatas!

    Thought you might be interesed to know there is a CD coming out by pianist Garrick Ohlsson, strongly associated in the 1990s with his recordings of Chopin, who is now in the middle of his dream project, a CD of Beethoven's 32 Sonatas.

    According to the review of his performance of Opus 110;
    " It's the latest in his series of compact discs on the Arabesque label and combines two early sonatas with Beethoven's penultimate masterpiece in the form, No. 31 in A-flat major.

    The Op. 110 took Beethoven years to shape into something he was willing to call a completed work, yet it falls so naturally into place that portions of it can covince a clear sense of being improvised. Ohlsson, his temperament given to the lyrical and linear, underwrites this sense perfectly. The first movement floats, the middle movement rolls. The final fugue is fiery and transcendent."
