Is this the version you uploaded some time back? - I haven't downloaded the latest as I thought it the same and it takes ages for my 56k to download stuff!
Anyhow the Grave in the version I'm listening to is a little unstable rhythmically, the Allegro however certainly has its brio and overall I like this performance and the sound of the instrument, even with my crummy pc speakers!

Yes I uploaded the Grave-Allegro recording a while back, so you will already have it. I agree about Badura-Skoda's effort, I said much the same myself upon announcing this mp3. But the recording level is much higher and it is a demonstration of another original piano.

How does everyone feel about tempo fluctuations within a movement like this? This seems to be another characteristic of this pianist (as well as others). I like the idea of using tempo to heighten the contrast between sections, but I also like straighter performances in which you hear everything on a level playing field, tempo-wise. I'd like to hear some comments about this.

I think the sacrifice of clarity is sometimes required if a true sence of urgency is to be achieved.

I think only moderate tempo fluctuations are required typically.
