Did anyone hear John Lill's peformance of Op 10 no 3 and Op 53 on Radio 3 recently?
The earlier sonata was quite delightfully played with due weight given to the slow movt and a finale as capricious as ever! Meanwhile the dynamic contrasts in the Waldstein truly came to the fore, not forgetting tempo - I was struck by a particularly slow passage near the end of the final movt.
All in all, I wanted to shout ENCORE!!

PS: Alfredo Perl's survey of the sonatas (also on R3)has been intriguing rather than wholly convincing - so far...
