    Kreutzer Sonata arr.

    Hi all,

    Long time no see ...

I have listened (partially ...) to Kreutzer Sonata arr. for string quintet.

I ordered it from one of the virtual music stores but it seems that it's a rare CD. I don't know whether I'll obtain it.

Do you know this quintet ? Is it interesting ?

I just know that it isn't B's arr.

    See you.

I have a recording of this arrangement performed by 'L'Archibudelli' on Sony (SK 48076). It's a good effort, whoever did the arrangement put a lot of time into it though it in no way supplants the original. I would have preferred L'Archibudelli to have performed some of Beethoven's genuine quintet music, which is not well catered for on the market at the moment. I really bought the cd for the Sextet Op81b, which is rather tamely performed here, and a duet for cello and viola. Not a recommendation really.

      Hi Rod,

That's exactly the CD I were talking about.

I'm very curious to listen to the Kreutzer quintet version.

Thanks for your opinion. I guess that the original version is often better than arr.
