    Finale of Op.79

    Yet another question about the form of a sonata movement, that our friend Peter will surely answer. What's the form of the last movement, vivace, of the sonata Op.79? Being so brief, one can hardly think of a rondo, but there's no gesture that could make us think in a sonata or sonatina form, so rondo is the most likely thing.

        It is short belonging to what is really a sonatina. Don't forget there are two types of this form: Rondo and the longer Sonata Rondo - The vivace is Rondo (ABACA). As to its being the shortest in B's sonatas - probably!
