Well, of course, what you will find most easily and what most people are familiar with are his symphonies, he wrote 104 (!) of them, most very good, none bad. He was also the inventor of the modern String Quartet, of which he wrote 68 (certain), all very good, some excellent. This is only the tip of the iceberg of his oeuvre. I would suggest the following, based on easy availability and quality;
the last 12 symphonies (Called the London Symphonies)
The 6 Quartets of Op 76
Any of the last 10 Piano Trios
Any of the last 15 Piano Sonatas
The Sinfonia Concertante in Bb for Violin, Cello, Oboe, Bassoon & Orchestra
The Trumpet Concerto
The Cello Concertos in D & C
If that doesn't give you not only an impression of him but a taste for more, I would be surprised!
